I have a lot to say about this, but not the time.  I will be writing it up tomorrow as soon as I have comments, but first I want to extend the invitation to the audience and to my peers to address the issue, open in discussion, and to offer material for tomorrow’s as soon as I have comments’ write up – material for me to use, steal or rebut.  Have fun, kids.

Unspeakable Evil Initiative – An Index of Our Reviews

As part of an initiative to increase the professionalism, usability and overall awesomeness of this blog, we’re going to be taking several steps towards revamping it. Mostly these steps are to make it more like a real site and less like one of the millions of lazy blogs littered across the internet.

The first of these steps is to create a categorised index of all reviews, past and future, posted on this site. Which I have done, to the best of my ability. Make sure to check it out, and please let me know if there’s anything we can do to improve it or if there any errors to be found there.

Nintendo 3DS – Do Nintendo Even Make Video Games Anymore?

Warning: Frothing, possibly incoherent rage imminent.

No, no they don’t. They just make ass backwards video game technologies, once in a while pausing to make a half-ass backwards game just to pretend that they still make video games. The rest of the time they’re making fully ass backwards games. And they do all of this to pander to the masses of mindless idiots who’ll gladly confirm Nintendo’s suspicions that, yes, it’s a lot easier to make money when you drag your quality down to their level. Because there are so many of them to fleece! Nintendo, consider yourself dead to me. DEAD. Read more of this post

Amazingly Cheap Comics – A Response

Unsurprising, but oh well, easy come easy go I guess!

“Hello,

Our records indicate you recently ordered ‘Madman Gargantua (Madman Comics)’. Unfortunately, due to a pricing error, we sold many more than expected. In fact, we completely sold out — we don’t have any in stock right now, and we’re not even sure if we’ll be able to get more.

As a result, we’ve had to cancel your order. I realize this is disappointing news, and I’m so sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

You may want to check our website from time to time to see if this item is available. If anyone is selling it, you’ll see a “More Buying Choices” box on the product detail page; if it’s not available from any sellers, you might see an “Order it used” or “Alert me” link. “Order it used” allows you to place a pre-order for the item in case another seller lists the item for sale later. “Alert me” allows you to sign up so we can e-mail you when Amazon has stock available for purchase.

I’m sorry I don’t have better news. We hope to see you again soon.”

Oscars Shmoscars

I have actually seen very little of the movies brought up in the Oscars. Well! I do plan to see some of them, so at least it was useful in pointing a few out. All I really have to say is that I guess I’m in the “hooray, Avatar didn’t win Best Picture” crowd. Anyone else wanna throw in their 2 cents?

In case you didn’t bother to watch it (I didn’t! I got most of the news from Twitter, tee hee), check out Roger Ebert’s rundown via the link.

I was a little bit disappointed by Avatar’s showing.  It got the best visual effects award and, sure, we all knew that it would, but I felt like it stole Star Trek’s thunder and I honestly feel that Star Trek deserved it.  Inglorious Basterds and Up were both nominated for best picture, so that was pretty cool and Up won it for Best Musical Score or however it went.

And I learned that there’s a movie with Sally Sparrows in it.  So I basically need this movie.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that Up won best animated film, which it deserved, even among what seems like a really good year for animated films.

Amazingly Cheap Comics

Amazon’s having some sort of nutty sale. Between the 28-issue Ultimates Omnibus (going for $14.99) and the 800 page Complete Invincible Library HC Vol 1 (also going for $14.99 are you shitting me) I thought I’d let you fine readers (all three of you) know of this chance to empty your goddamn wallets.

UPDATE: There’s no way this isn’t a glitch. I suppose we’ll see what happens with my, er, order (Madman Gargantua; over 800 pages of awesome Allred art!).

The New New Avengers

Man, I know Bendis would marry Luke Cage if it were humanly (or perhaps just legally?) possible, but do we really need an entire Avengers comic more or less based around him? I am sort of looking forward to the  Heroic Age relaunching of all these Avengers titles: I have never  followed an Avengers title, and I figure Romita Jr. (I like his art, okay? It is delicious and old-school) and new numbering is a good time as any to jump on, but do we really need three (possibly four) new Avengers titles to replace the old ones? Hint: I am speaking in rhetoric!
